Tie Dye Hoodie

What You’ll Need:
-1 white hoodie
-1 cup of salt
-1 bottle of liquid fabric dye in your desired color (we used Tulip brand in “Party”)
-2 rubber bands
-plastic wrap or garbage bags
-gloves (optional)
Instructions:
1. Fill a large bowl or bucket with very hot water and dissolve the salt completely. Add the liquid fabric dye and stir until mixed well.
2. Wet the entire hoodie in the dyebath, using gloves if you prefer not to get dye on your hands.
Squeeze out any excess water and set aside for a few minutes to allow the dye to soak in.
3. Meanwhile, lay out two plastic garbage bags side by side. Place the wet hoodie on top of them, aligning the center seam with the edge of one of the bags.
Fold over one bag so it covers half of the hoodie, then do the same with the other bag. You should now have four layers – two layers of plastic and two layers of wet hoodie. Securely close each bag with a rubber band around its middle, then repeat with another rubber band around both bags combined, as shown in photos below.
This will help keep any leaks contained while you’re working. 4. Now it’s time to start folding! There are lots of different ways to fold tie-dye fabrics – feel free to experiment! We did a basic accordion fold, starting at the bottom hem and folding up about 2 inches at a time until we reached the top of the hoodie (see photo below left). Once your fabric is folded, use more rubber bands to secure it in place along its lengthwise folds; we used three additional bands spaced evenly apart (see photo below right). 5Now all that’s left is to wait!
